Senior Data Scientist

Job ID 293924 Egham, United Kingdom

Overview

Add an annual turnover of $24.1 billion to a fleet of 2 million vehicles spread across over 10,000 locations worldwide and you get Enterprise Rent-A-Car – the largest global mobility provider in the world.

Join us as a Senior Data Scientist, and you’ll have the opportunity to put your analytical skills to work on one of the largest and richest data sets available in our market; modelling complex business problems and deploying data solutions that we’re certain will have the power to radically transform and improve our business.

It’s no surprise that Enterprise has captured the top spot in the latest JD Power Rental Car Satisfaction Study for the fifth year in a row, even topping satisfaction scores for hotels, airlines and airports. It’s our relentless focus on providing excellent customer service that has enabled our business to grow. This is your chance to leverage the data we produce to deliver the insights and strategies that will enable us to grow that success even further.

Responsibilities

You will be joining the recently formed European Analytics Centre of Excellence team, based in our European HQ in Egham, just outside London. As one of its first members, and its first Senior Data Scientist, you will be in the enviable and exciting position to actively contribute in shaping its course, helping us to grow our data science practice from the ground up.

You will therefore be an exceptional individual, with experience in developing advanced statistical and mathematical models and solutions, as well as a track record of delivering efficiencies and improvements to decision-making processes.

Central to your role will be exploratory data analysis, applying statistical methods, generating hypothesis and extracting actionable insights. As you can imagine, being the largest global mobility provider in the world also means that we generate an enormous amount of data. You therefore need to be able to confidently extract, clean, and manipulate both structured and unstructured datasets, with the aim of successfully driving structure and knowledge.

To succeed, you’ll be intellectual curious and a creative thinker. You’ll have a highly collaborative mindset, comfortable with working with your team to deliver solutions, whilst prioritising your own workload at the same time. You will also know that delivering detailed documentation including descriptions of efforts, results, and recommendations, as well as presenting your findings to senior stakeholders will be crucial.

Qualifications

We’re keen to hear from those of you with experience working with and analysing large data sets, with an ability to write code. You should also be able to call on your strong academic background in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or another relevant discipline. In particular, you will need to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Data mining and developing statistical and/or mathematical models using analytics software.
  • Working with relational databases such as Teradata, SQL Server, or Oracle. Cloud-based experience a plus.
  • Experience with statistical and data mining software such as: SQL, SAS, R, Python.
  • Wrangling large datasets for modelling.
  • Exploring and visualising data to find new patterns and signals (Tableau, Looker).
  • Preparing and giving technical presentations.
